Newswhip is an application that monitors thousands of news stories daily and reveals which are getting shared and discussed the most on social networks like Facebook and Twitter. The tracking process is done in real time.
Once logged in with a valid Facebook account, users can access to the top stories from the following categories:
Users can establish their accounts based on their respective regions. When we tested Newswhip, there were two big stories that created a buzz in Canada, specifically in the telecommunications sector:

- The article, “Rogers Twitter tactic backfires as customers use hashtag to vent about… ” received 78 shares on Facebook and 31 tweets in 3 hours
- The article, “Bell-Astral deal should be stopped in its tracks“ received 5 shares on Facebook and 21 tweets in 3 hours
